The Baroque marmoreal Stele realized by the sculptor messinese Joseph Buceti in the century XVIII is composed by a solid ornamental base from the beveled angles, decorated in low from epigraphs and aloft from angels. It is risen therefore a plinth rich in decorations to the summit of which the statuary complex of the Virgo Immaculate fulcrum of the artistic monumental plant rises.

In origin the Monument had put in the plaza Pentedattilo, that was found in front of the actual Building of the Province on the course Cavour, after the 1908 earthquake has been put in the homonym Plaza sideways to the Cathedral.
For the tradition to populate the monument has been erected in thanks to the Madonna for the children's miracle fallen from it Launches and was unharmed near the plaza of the Pentedattilo during the processions of 1681 and 1738.

Every year on December 8, after the solemn celebration Eucaristica in the Cathedral, the Mayor of the city, to the archbishop's presence with the Clergy, of the President of the Regional Province and the Brotherhood Maria SS.
