In the Maurolico square, crossed from the Tommaso Cannizzaro Street of forehead to the Palace of Justice, it has center THE BUILDING OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THE STUDIES that it came constructed on design of Giuseppe Botto in 1927.

The University of Messina  was preceded from the Greek letter school founded from Costantino Lascaris in 1421. After approximately twenty years the city churches to the king Alfonso the Magnanimous one to possess one its University like Catania, only in 1548 obtained it. In that period the talent of Francesco Maurolico gave impulse to numerous initiatives of scientific, cultural and artistic character.
